Meet Tuxedo, a beautiful black-and-white tuxedo girl who has never met an adventure she didn’t want to investigate! 🖤🤍

From the beginning, Tuxedo has been the first to jump into the action. She loves being right in the middle of whatever is happening and is usually ready to start the next round of play with her littermates. When she’s awake, it’s go time—whether she’s chasing toys, wrestling with her brothers, climbing, or launching herself at anything that catches her eye!

Tuxedo has an especially fun way of playing. She’ll stand up on her back legs, paws at the ready, and then leap toward her chosen target like a tiny furry hunter. Mice and string toys bring out her pouncing instincts, while tunnels and cozy sleeping spots are among her favorite places to hang out when she finally runs out of steam.

She’s also wonderfully social and seeks out people when she’s ready to play or wants some attention. She’s brave and curious even around sudden movements or loud noises, and mealtime is becoming another great opportunity for positive interaction. Her litter box skills are coming along beautifully, too.

Tuxedo is an affectionate, goofy, adventurous little girl with a big personality in the making. She’s ready to bring some playful chaos, plenty of laughs, and lots of love to her forever home! 🐾

Want to adopt a kitten? We highly recommend you consider bringing home two instead of one! Adopting kittens in pairs has been proven to be beneficial for cats’ emotional and behavioral well-being and greatly improves the likelihood of long-term adopter happiness as a result. Adopting more than one kitten also reduces the risk of “Single Kitten Syndrome” (also known as Tarzan Syndrome), a symptom of under-socialization during a kitten’s most formative weeks. Kittens who are under-socialized may develop aggressive tendencies toward both other animals and humans as they grow, creating lifelong behavioral issues for owners.

NOTE ABOUT BREED LABELING: Visual breed identification of dogs is unreliable and usually inaccurate. So, for most of our adoptable pups, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog or puppy as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label.

Please read the following general requirements carefully before submitting an adoption application. While this criteria is our typical standard, we understand all situations are unique! Don’t be discouraged if you don’t feel you meet one of these bullet points – feel free to submit an application anyway, so we can discuss your situation with you.

  • Applicants must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Submitted applications must be filled out fully and factually.
  • All applicants must reside in the state of Minnesota or its bordering states, unless a special exception has been made. Please email us at info@ruffstartrescue.org if you would like to discuss the potential for an out of state adoption.
  • Consider how you’ll manage an isolation period and be sure all existing pets are up-to-date on vaccinations and other routine health care before bringing a new pet home. An isolation period would be good for allowing that animal to settle in and learn the routine.
  • Please be aware of any rental/association or homeowners’ insurance restrictions you may have before applying. Such limits may include breed restrictions, number of pets allowed, weight requirements, etc.
  • All adopted animals must live indoors with their families and always be monitored closely when outdoors for their safety (with the exception of working cats).
  • We do not allow any medically-unnecessary surgical procedures, such as declawing; defanging; debarking; or cropping/docking (of tails or ears) to be conducted on any animal adopted from our rescue.
