Submit an adoption application to express interest and help us learn about your home. Applications are not a commitment. Our Applications Team typically responds within 48 hours, so please watch your email (and spam folder).
After review, our team will walk you through next steps, which may include a foster signup form and brief training. Once complete, you’ll be approved as a Ruff Start foster home.
If you have a specific Foster to Adopt animal in mind, we’ll help coordinate pickup. If not, you can choose from animals in need of foster placement. Some pets may need time to settle in, and our team is here to support you along the way.
While in foster care, the animal completes any remaining medical needs, such as spay/neuter, vaccinations, testing, and microchipping. Ruff Start covers all veterinary costs, and fosters assist with transport to scheduled appointments, usually at our Princeton, MN office.
Once the animal is medically cleared, you may choose to adopt. If it’s not the right fit, you’ll continue fostering while the animal is available for adoption, helping reduce transitions. Approved fosters are always welcome to continue fostering, whether or not they adopt their first foster.
