Rousey is a professional-level Velcro dog, and she takes her job VERY seriously!
Sitting on the couch? She’s on your lap. Heading to bed? She’s right there. Bathroom break? She’s your supervisor. Shower time? She’s checking on you. Yard work? She’s the assistant manager!
Personal space? Rousey thinks that’s just a rumor! And if you dare leave her behind, you’d better be ready for the Happy Dance when you return. She WILL make sure you know just how much she missed you!
All kidding aside, underneath all that sweet, sweet clinginess is a truly lovely girl. Rousey is affectionate, gentle, sometimes goofy, and has a moderate energy level. She’s relaxed around other dogs and does well with calm, considerate approaches. Give her a little time to warm up, and she’ll be ready to share her sweet personality with you. She also walks well on a leash!
Rousey can experience some separation anxiety, so she’ll benefit from a patient adopter who understands her need for reassurance and can help her build confidence with time and consistency. She’s also fine-tuning her potty training and will need a little continued guidance as she learns her routine.
Rousey is looking for a home where love comes with a side of personal-space invasion! If you want a devoted pup who will happily supervise your daily activities, keep your lap warm, and celebrate every homecoming like it’s the best day ever, Rousey might just be your girl!

This pet is currently undergoing treatment for heartworm disease. Activity must be restricted for several weeks during recovery. RSR will cover the full cost of treatment. RSR will provide heartworm preventatives until the retest is due. The adopter will be responsible for scheduling the retest and obtaining any follow-up prescriptions through their veterinarian.
 

NOTE ABOUT BREED LABELING: Visual breed identification of dogs is unreliable and usually inaccurate. So, for most of our adoptable pups, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog or puppy as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label.

Please read the following general requirements carefully before submitting an adoption application. While this criteria is our typical standard, we understand all situations are unique! Don’t be discouraged if you don’t feel you meet one of these bullet points – feel free to submit an application anyway, so we can discuss your situation with you.

  • Applicants must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Submitted applications must be filled out fully and factually.
  • All applicants must reside in the state of Minnesota or its bordering states, unless a special exception has been made. Please email us at info@ruffstartrescue.org if you would like to discuss the potential for an out of state adoption.
  • Consider how you’ll manage an isolation period and be sure all existing pets are up-to-date on vaccinations and other routine health care before bringing a new pet home. An isolation period would be good for allowing that animal to settle in and learn the routine.
  • Please be aware of any rental/association or homeowners’ insurance restrictions you may have before applying. Such limits may include breed restrictions, number of pets allowed, weight requirements, etc.
  • All adopted animals must live indoors with their families and always be monitored closely when outdoors for their safety (with the exception of working cats).
  • We do not allow any medically-unnecessary surgical procedures, such as declawing; defanging; debarking; or cropping/docking (of tails or ears) to be conducted on any animal adopted from our rescue.
