Meet RoamEo, a laid-back observer who is perfectly content to simply exist and enjoy the good life indoors!

After spending years living outdoors, RoamEo is learning all about being a pampered house cat, and he’s doing a great job. He is a very low-energy guy who loves nothing more than lounging in a cozy bed or perched in a window, quietly taking in everything happening around him. He’s the kind of cat who doesn’t need to be the center of attention—he’s perfectly happy just being nearby and enjoying his surroundings.

RoamEo is also quite the conversationalist! He is a very vocal boy who loves to tell you what he’s thinking. His foster family has noticed that he has become a little quieter since being neutered, but he still has plenty to say. When he wants some attention, he’ll meow, stroll over, and rub against your legs. If he’s really hoping for some pets, he may even follow you around until you get the hint. And if you’re lucky, he might roll onto his back and offer up his belly for a good rub!

He can be a little shy when meeting new people, but it doesn’t take him long to warm up and discover that new humans can provide wonderful things like affection and pets. Once he feels comfortable, his sweet and affectionate side comes out.

RoamEo is still learning what toys are all about. He enjoys catnip and will happily rub all over his catnip toys, but he hasn’t quite mastered the whole “play with the toy” concept yet. With his easygoing personality, he seems perfectly content to take his time figuring things out.

He picked up litter box life right away, proving that this former outdoor gentleman is a quick learner. His one little quirk? He is very interested in open doors and may make a dash for freedom if given the opportunity, so his humans will need to be mindful of doorways.

RoamEo is very fearful around dogs. He isn’t aggressive toward them, but his preferred response is to hiss and make a quick exit. A dog-free home would likely be the most comfortable environment for him. He could happily live as the only pet or share his home with other animal friends as long as introductions are slow and thoughtful.

If you’re looking for a mellow, independent companion who enjoys affection but doesn’t need constant attention, RoamEo might be your perfect match. He’s a window-watching, bed-lounging, occasionally chatty guy who is discovering how wonderful indoor life can be. He doesn’t ask for much—just a safe home, a cozy spot to observe the world, and some love when he comes looking for it.

NOTE ABOUT BREED LABELING: Visual breed identification of dogs is unreliable and usually inaccurate. So, for most of our adoptable pups, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog or puppy as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label.

Please read the following general requirements carefully before submitting an adoption application. While this criteria is our typical standard, we understand all situations are unique! Don’t be discouraged if you don’t feel you meet one of these bullet points – feel free to submit an application anyway, so we can discuss your situation with you.

  • Applicants must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Submitted applications must be filled out fully and factually.
  • All applicants must reside in the state of Minnesota or its bordering states, unless a special exception has been made. Please email us at info@ruffstartrescue.org if you would like to discuss the potential for an out of state adoption.
  • Consider how you’ll manage an isolation period and be sure all existing pets are up-to-date on vaccinations and other routine health care before bringing a new pet home. An isolation period would be good for allowing that animal to settle in and learn the routine.
  • Please be aware of any rental/association or homeowners’ insurance restrictions you may have before applying. Such limits may include breed restrictions, number of pets allowed, weight requirements, etc.
  • All adopted animals must live indoors with their families and always be monitored closely when outdoors for their safety (with the exception of working cats).
  • We do not allow any medically-unnecessary surgical procedures, such as declawing; defanging; debarking; or cropping/docking (of tails or ears) to be conducted on any animal adopted from our rescue.
