Hi, I’m Noodle!

I’m a happy, affectionate guy with two favorite activities: playing and snuggling. Honestly, I can’t decide which one I love more! I absolutely adore people and believe personal space is highly overrated when there’s a perfectly good lap—or human—to curl up next to. I’m a professional snuggler, and when I’m cozy with my people, I make the happiest little sounds. My foster dad says I even purr like a cat!

I’m also a big fan of other dogs. Playing, wrestling, tug-of-war, and generally having a good time with my canine friends are some of my favorite things. I still have plenty of puppy in me and sometimes get a little mouthy when I’m excited to play, but I’m learning better manners every day. I’d love a home with another playful, energetic dog who would enjoy having a fun-loving wrestling buddy.

I’m doing pretty well with cats and have come a long way in foster care. I’m very interested in my feline siblings and sometimes think they would LOVE to play chase with me. They have tried explaining otherwise with a few swats, but apparently I’m a slow learner! I’ve never shown aggression toward them, and I may be able to live with a dog-savvy cat depending on the individual cat and a thoughtful introduction.

I’m also working hard on my people manners. I’m learning that jumping up isn’t the best way to say hello and that hands aren’t chew toys. I’m making great progress! Once my people come through the door, I settle down quickly and am ready to offer them all the affection I have. I’ve never met a person I didn’t like and greet everyone with a happy, wagging tail.

When I’m not busy loving on my people or playing with my doggy friends, I enjoy chew toys, balls, tug ropes, stuffed Kongs, puzzle feeders, and snuffle mats. These are excellent ways to keep my busy puppy brain entertained! I don’t guard my goodies, either.

I’m still working on my leash manners because walks are VERY exciting, and I can get a little enthusiastic about pulling. I’m also learning that being home alone isn’t so scary. I can be crated and will eventually settle, although I may let you know I’m not thrilled about it with a few yips first. Since my foster family is home most of the time, I’m still getting used to having people leave. I’m also working on figuring out what is and isn’t appropriate to chew, so I’m not quite ready to be trusted loose in the house by myself just yet.

At night, I’m a champion sleeper. I happily sleep through the night on the bed and don’t get up until my people do. Once the day starts, I’m ready for a walk, some playtime with my foster sister, and then a rotation of naps and adventures. In the evening, I’m happy to relax on the couch after I’ve had a chance to burn off some energy.

Oh, and did I mention I LOVE car rides? I’m a great little travel buddy!

I had a bit of a stressful start when I first arrived at the shelter, but once I settled in, my true personality came shining through. I’m a sweet, silly, affectionate boy who loves life, loves his people, and loves having fun. If you’re looking for a playful best friend with a huge heart, endless affection, and the most expressive ears you’ve ever seen, I think we might be a pretty great match!

So…when do we get to start snuggling?

NOTE ABOUT BREED LABELING: Visual breed identification of dogs is unreliable and usually inaccurate. So, for most of our adoptable pups, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog or puppy as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label.

Please read the following general requirements carefully before submitting an adoption application. While this criteria is our typical standard, we understand all situations are unique! Don’t be discouraged if you don’t feel you meet one of these bullet points – feel free to submit an application anyway, so we can discuss your situation with you.

  • Applicants must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Submitted applications must be filled out fully and factually.
  • All applicants must reside in the state of Minnesota or its bordering states, unless a special exception has been made. Please email us at info@ruffstartrescue.org if you would like to discuss the potential for an out of state adoption.
  • Consider how you’ll manage an isolation period and be sure all existing pets are up-to-date on vaccinations and other routine health care before bringing a new pet home. An isolation period would be good for allowing that animal to settle in and learn the routine.
  • Please be aware of any rental/association or homeowners’ insurance restrictions you may have before applying. Such limits may include breed restrictions, number of pets allowed, weight requirements, etc.
  • All adopted animals must live indoors with their families and always be monitored closely when outdoors for their safety (with the exception of working cats).
  • We do not allow any medically-unnecessary surgical procedures, such as declawing; defanging; debarking; or cropping/docking (of tails or ears) to be conducted on any animal adopted from our rescue.
