🌮 Meet Nacho Fries! 🧀

Nacho Fries is one spicy little nugget of fun with a whole lot of love to give! This spunky dude plays hard, snuggles harder, and has absolutely no concept of personal space. Your chest, lap, neck, wrist, or even the top of your head will do just fine when Nacho is looking for a comfy place to park himself!

Nacho has plenty of daytime energy and loves chasing fishing-rod toys, wrestling with his feline friends, and scurrying around on his own. When playtime is over, he’s ready to recharge with a cozy cuddle. He gets along well with other cats, is friendly with new people, and loves being groomed by his foster brother. He’s also quite the little chatterbox, offering adorable meows, soft commentary, and the occasional bit of backtalk.

This handsome boy keeps himself well-groomed, is litter-box trained, and even tolerates nail trims. Just keep an eye on your food and especially your milk—Nacho is a tiny food thief who may try to dunk his whole head in a glass if given the opportunity!

With his adorable ear tufts, sweet little voice, and unshakable desire to be wherever you are, Nacho Fries is an amazing companion. He’s looking for a home where he can play, snuggle, and love his people every chance he gets. Just be prepared to share *everything*—including your personal space! 💕

Want to adopt a kitten? We highly recommend you consider bringing home two instead of one! Adopting kittens in pairs has been proven to be beneficial for cats’ emotional and behavioral well-being and greatly improves the likelihood of long-term adopter happiness as a result. Adopting more than one kitten also reduces the risk of “Single Kitten Syndrome” (also known as Tarzan Syndrome), a symptom of under-socialization during a kitten’s most formative weeks. Kittens who are under-socialized may develop aggressive tendencies toward both other animals and humans as they grow, creating lifelong behavioral issues for owners.

NOTE ABOUT BREED LABELING: Visual breed identification of dogs is unreliable and usually inaccurate. So, for most of our adoptable pups, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog or puppy as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label.

Please read the following general requirements carefully before submitting an adoption application. While this criteria is our typical standard, we understand all situations are unique! Don’t be discouraged if you don’t feel you meet one of these bullet points – feel free to submit an application anyway, so we can discuss your situation with you.

  • Applicants must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Submitted applications must be filled out fully and factually.
  • All applicants must reside in the state of Minnesota or its bordering states, unless a special exception has been made. Please email us at info@ruffstartrescue.org if you would like to discuss the potential for an out of state adoption.
  • Consider how you’ll manage an isolation period and be sure all existing pets are up-to-date on vaccinations and other routine health care before bringing a new pet home. An isolation period would be good for allowing that animal to settle in and learn the routine.
  • Please be aware of any rental/association or homeowners’ insurance restrictions you may have before applying. Such limits may include breed restrictions, number of pets allowed, weight requirements, etc.
  • All adopted animals must live indoors with their families and always be monitored closely when outdoors for their safety (with the exception of working cats).
  • We do not allow any medically-unnecessary surgical procedures, such as declawing; defanging; debarking; or cropping/docking (of tails or ears) to be conducted on any animal adopted from our rescue.
