Hi, I’m Meowly Cyrus! 🎶🐾

I may be a little shy at first, but don’t let my quiet nature fool you—I’ve got a sweet little personality waiting to shine! I’m still getting comfortable in my foster home, and after about a week, I’ve already started making progress. I’ll let my foster mom give me a few pets while I’m eating, and every now and then, when my siblings are getting lap time, I’ll come over to investigate and see what all the fuss is about. Sometimes I’ll even stick around for a couple of pets myself! Once I feel comfortable, I’m a total lovebug and love napping on my human’s lap! I do want to note, my siblings are what brings my comfort, and I do need to be adopted with a littermate so I can thrive and grow my confidence in a new home!

I absolutely LOVE playing with my siblings and chasing toys, and I’m happiest when I have my kitty crew nearby. I also love snuggling with them, so having a feline friend in my forever home would be wonderful.

I’m the kind of girl who just needs a little time, patience, and a gentle approach to let my confidence grow. I have a feeling that once I’m settled in and know I’m safe, my sweet side is going to come out more and more. ❤️

If you’re willing to let me set the pace, I just might surprise you with what a wonderful little companion I can become!

Want to adopt a kitten? We highly recommend you consider bringing home two instead of one! Adopting kittens in pairs has been proven to be beneficial for cats’ emotional and behavioral well-being and greatly improves the likelihood of long-term adopter happiness as a result. Adopting more than one kitten also reduces the risk of “Single Kitten Syndrome” (also known as Tarzan Syndrome), a symptom of under-socialization during a kitten’s most formative weeks. Kittens who are under-socialized may develop aggressive tendencies toward both other animals and humans as they grow, creating lifelong behavioral issues for owners.

NOTE ABOUT BREED LABELING: Visual breed identification of dogs is unreliable and usually inaccurate. So, for most of our adoptable pups, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog or puppy as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label.

Please read the following general requirements carefully before submitting an adoption application. While this criteria is our typical standard, we understand all situations are unique! Don’t be discouraged if you don’t feel you meet one of these bullet points – feel free to submit an application anyway, so we can discuss your situation with you.

  • Applicants must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Submitted applications must be filled out fully and factually.
  • All applicants must reside in the state of Minnesota or its bordering states, unless a special exception has been made. Please email us at info@ruffstartrescue.org if you would like to discuss the potential for an out of state adoption.
  • Consider how you’ll manage an isolation period and be sure all existing pets are up-to-date on vaccinations and other routine health care before bringing a new pet home. An isolation period would be good for allowing that animal to settle in and learn the routine.
  • Please be aware of any rental/association or homeowners’ insurance restrictions you may have before applying. Such limits may include breed restrictions, number of pets allowed, weight requirements, etc.
  • All adopted animals must live indoors with their families and always be monitored closely when outdoors for their safety (with the exception of working cats).
  • We do not allow any medically-unnecessary surgical procedures, such as declawing; defanging; debarking; or cropping/docking (of tails or ears) to be conducted on any animal adopted from our rescue.
