Meet Karma, a beautiful brindle girl with soulful eyes, the cutest head tilts, and an incredible ability to melt right into you — literally.

Before Karma arrived in rescue, one of the team members at the local impound described her by saying, “This girl melts into you,” and her foster cannot emphasize enough how perfectly that describes her. Karma absolutely melts into any love she’s offered. She’ll happily roll over for belly scratches, crawl right into your lap, or fall asleep while you hold her head in your hands. This girl loves love, and she wants as much of it as you’re willing to give!

Karma is also incredibly curious and has perfected the most adorable head tilt whenever she’s trying to figure something out. She loves toys and is perfectly happy keeping herself occupied with a good chew. She enjoys car rides, walks wonderfully on a leash, is potty trained, and already knows “sit” and “shake.” At night, she sleeps in her kennel and will let you know if she needs a potty break.

And then there are the Karma sound effects! She has the cutest pittie snores and some very impressive squeals. She may squeal when she gets bored in her kennel, needs to go outside, or simply decides that being out with you sounds MUCH better than being in there. Because Karma is not shy about sharing her opinions, a home without shared walls would likely be the best fit for her.

Karma can be a bit protective of her extra-special resting spots, like the couch or her kennel, with other dogs, so continued boundaries and practice sharing will be something her foster continues to work with her on and will be important in her new home as well.

Karma has an incredible foundation, but like any younger dog, she’s still looking for a family committed to continuing her training, providing structure and boundaries, and showing her the ropes as she grows into the wonderful lifelong companion she’s already well on her way to becoming. In return? A lifetime of the best snuggles you could ever dream of.

Karma can be wonderfully wiggly and sometimes forget where her body is, so a home with older children would likely suit her best.

Karma has also gotten to join her foster mama at her office several times, and she was the perfect little lady. If Karma had anything to say about it, she’d have Employee of the Year in the bag!

Karma is a soulful, silly, affectionate little lady with beautiful brindle coloring, pittie snores, endless curiosity, and SO much dang love to give. She doesn’t just melt into everyone she meets — she has a pretty remarkable way of melting right into their hearts, too.

NOTE ABOUT BREED LABELING: Visual breed identification of dogs is unreliable and usually inaccurate. So, for most of our adoptable pups, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog or puppy as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label.

Please read the following general requirements carefully before submitting an adoption application. While this criteria is our typical standard, we understand all situations are unique! Don’t be discouraged if you don’t feel you meet one of these bullet points – feel free to submit an application anyway, so we can discuss your situation with you.

  • Applicants must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Submitted applications must be filled out fully and factually.
  • All applicants must reside in the state of Minnesota or its bordering states, unless a special exception has been made. Please email us at info@ruffstartrescue.org if you would like to discuss the potential for an out of state adoption.
  • Consider how you’ll manage an isolation period and be sure all existing pets are up-to-date on vaccinations and other routine health care before bringing a new pet home. An isolation period would be good for allowing that animal to settle in and learn the routine.
  • Please be aware of any rental/association or homeowners’ insurance restrictions you may have before applying. Such limits may include breed restrictions, number of pets allowed, weight requirements, etc.
  • All adopted animals must live indoors with their families and always be monitored closely when outdoors for their safety (with the exception of working cats).
  • We do not allow any medically-unnecessary surgical procedures, such as declawing; defanging; debarking; or cropping/docking (of tails or ears) to be conducted on any animal adopted from our rescue.
