Jada is a loving little kitten who is ready to trade her rough start outdoors for a life filled with toys, cuddles, and people who adore her.

This sweet girl was found outside after being abandoned. She walked right up to her rescuers on their patio, clearly deciding that humans were exactly what she needed! She had been bullied by a stray male cat in the yard, so she’s understandably cautious around other cats. With a slow, patient introduction and careful supervision, we think she could learn that feline friends can be safe, too.

Once she knows she’s safe, Jada is a wonderful little companion. She loves being petted and will happily curl up in your lap for some quality snuggle time. She’s happiest when she’s near her people, but she’s also comfortable entertaining herself when you’re busy.

And like any proper kitten, Jada has plenty of energy! She loves all kinds of toys, especially balls she can bat around, soft mice she can carry and chase, and pretty much anything else that looks like fun. She’ll play hard, but those kitten batteries don’t last forever—before long, she’s ready for a cozy nap.

Jada is still learning her kitten manners and would benefit from a family experienced with cats and kittens. She’s learning that hands and feet aren’t toys and that toys are much more appropriate for wrestling and pouncing. A little guidance and consistency will help her become an excellent playmate.

Because of her history, Jada would do best with older, respectful children—around 6 years old and up—who understand how to interact gently with a kitten. She’ll also need a slow introduction to any resident cats, with separate spaces until everyone is comfortable.

Jada has already shown incredible trust in people after a difficult start. Now she’s ready for the easy part: growing up loved, spoiled, and surrounded by people who will appreciate her playful spirit and enormous little heart. ❤️

Want to adopt a kitten? We highly recommend you consider bringing home two instead of one! Adopting kittens in pairs has been proven to be beneficial for cats’ emotional and behavioral well-being and greatly improves the likelihood of long-term adopter happiness as a result. Adopting more than one kitten also reduces the risk of “Single Kitten Syndrome” (also known as Tarzan Syndrome), a symptom of under-socialization during a kitten’s most formative weeks. Kittens who are under-socialized may develop aggressive tendencies toward both other animals and humans as they grow, creating lifelong behavioral issues for owners.

NOTE ABOUT BREED LABELING: Visual breed identification of dogs is unreliable and usually inaccurate. So, for most of our adoptable pups, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog or puppy as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label.

Please read the following general requirements carefully before submitting an adoption application. While this criteria is our typical standard, we understand all situations are unique! Don’t be discouraged if you don’t feel you meet one of these bullet points – feel free to submit an application anyway, so we can discuss your situation with you.

  • Applicants must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Submitted applications must be filled out fully and factually.
  • All applicants must reside in the state of Minnesota or its bordering states, unless a special exception has been made. Please email us at info@ruffstartrescue.org if you would like to discuss the potential for an out of state adoption.
  • Consider how you’ll manage an isolation period and be sure all existing pets are up-to-date on vaccinations and other routine health care before bringing a new pet home. An isolation period would be good for allowing that animal to settle in and learn the routine.
  • Please be aware of any rental/association or homeowners’ insurance restrictions you may have before applying. Such limits may include breed restrictions, number of pets allowed, weight requirements, etc.
  • All adopted animals must live indoors with their families and always be monitored closely when outdoors for their safety (with the exception of working cats).
  • We do not allow any medically-unnecessary surgical procedures, such as declawing; defanging; debarking; or cropping/docking (of tails or ears) to be conducted on any animal adopted from our rescue.
