Meet Haze! This sweet girl may take a little time to warm up, but once she gets to know you, she has a wonderfully loving personality just waiting to shine.

Haze was the shyest of her siblings and took the longest to feel comfortable, but she has made great progress. These days, she can be either a total cuddle bug or a tiny whirlwind of kitten energy! She loves sitting on her person’s lap or legs for pets and is getting better and better about being picked up for cuddles.

When Haze decides it’s time to play, watch out! She loves racing through the three-way tunnel, climbing all over the room, and chasing both motion and regular toys. She also has a sweet habit of following her person around—even if they move from the floor to the bed, Haze may decide she needs to come along!

Haze enjoys spending time with her siblings but also appreciates having some quiet time of her own. She has only seen other pets through a screen door so far, so introductions to new animals should be slow and thoughtful.

Haze is fully litter box trained and would love a patient, loving home where she can continue building confidence at her own pace. Once she knows you, this shy little girl has plenty of love and affection to give!

Want to adopt a kitten? We highly recommend you consider bringing home two instead of one! Adopting kittens in pairs has been proven to be beneficial for cats’ emotional and behavioral well-being and greatly improves the likelihood of long-term adopter happiness as a result. Adopting more than one kitten also reduces the risk of “Single Kitten Syndrome” (also known as Tarzan Syndrome), a symptom of under-socialization during a kitten’s most formative weeks. Kittens who are under-socialized may develop aggressive tendencies toward both other animals and humans as they grow, creating lifelong behavioral issues for owners.

NOTE ABOUT BREED LABELING: Visual breed identification of dogs is unreliable and usually inaccurate. So, for most of our adoptable pups, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog or puppy as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label.

Please read the following general requirements carefully before submitting an adoption application. While this criteria is our typical standard, we understand all situations are unique! Don’t be discouraged if you don’t feel you meet one of these bullet points – feel free to submit an application anyway, so we can discuss your situation with you.

  • Applicants must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Submitted applications must be filled out fully and factually.
  • All applicants must reside in the state of Minnesota or its bordering states, unless a special exception has been made. Please email us at info@ruffstartrescue.org if you would like to discuss the potential for an out of state adoption.
  • Consider how you’ll manage an isolation period and be sure all existing pets are up-to-date on vaccinations and other routine health care before bringing a new pet home. An isolation period would be good for allowing that animal to settle in and learn the routine.
  • Please be aware of any rental/association or homeowners’ insurance restrictions you may have before applying. Such limits may include breed restrictions, number of pets allowed, weight requirements, etc.
  • All adopted animals must live indoors with their families and always be monitored closely when outdoors for their safety (with the exception of working cats).
  • We do not allow any medically-unnecessary surgical procedures, such as declawing; defanging; debarking; or cropping/docking (of tails or ears) to be conducted on any animal adopted from our rescue.
