Meet Chief! The gentle leader with a soft spot for snuggles!

Chief may have started out a little shy, but this sweet boy has officially come out of his shell and is ready to take charge of the affection department!

These days, he’s often the first one to greet you, rubbing against your legs and purring to let you know he’s happy to see you. And if you happen to sit down? Well, Chief considers that an open invitation to climb right into your lap for some quality cuddle time.

With his gentle nature and growing confidence, Chief has a way of quietly stealing your heart. He may not be the loudest officer on the force, but he’s certainly making his presence known!

Of course, every officer has a mischievous side, and Chief is no exception. Those toes of yours? Apparently, they look suspicious, and Chief feels obligated to give them a little nibble now and then.

Chief is a social sweetheart with excellent litter box habits who would love a forever home where he can continue to blossom and share all the love he has to give.

His official orders: Report for cuddles, distribute purrs generously, and keep a close eye on any suspicious toes. Chief is ready to serve and protect your heart!

NOTE ABOUT BREED LABELING: Visual breed identification of dogs is unreliable and usually inaccurate. So, for most of our adoptable pups, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog or puppy as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label.

Please read the following general requirements carefully before submitting an adoption application. While this criteria is our typical standard, we understand all situations are unique! Don’t be discouraged if you don’t feel you meet one of these bullet points – feel free to submit an application anyway, so we can discuss your situation with you.

  • Applicants must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Submitted applications must be filled out fully and factually.
  • All applicants must reside in the state of Minnesota or its bordering states, unless a special exception has been made. Please email us at info@ruffstartrescue.org if you would like to discuss the potential for an out of state adoption.
  • Consider how you’ll manage an isolation period and be sure all existing pets are up-to-date on vaccinations and other routine health care before bringing a new pet home. An isolation period would be good for allowing that animal to settle in and learn the routine.
  • Please be aware of any rental/association or homeowners’ insurance restrictions you may have before applying. Such limits may include breed restrictions, number of pets allowed, weight requirements, etc.
  • All adopted animals must live indoors with their families and always be monitored closely when outdoors for their safety (with the exception of working cats).
  • We do not allow any medically-unnecessary surgical procedures, such as declawing; defanging; debarking; or cropping/docking (of tails or ears) to be conducted on any animal adopted from our rescue.
