If you are looking for a charismatic and loving kitty, Oreo is your guy! He has already had one very lucky break (being saved from inevitable death) and is looking for his next bit of luck – finding an awesome forever home. But in actuality, whoever adopts him will be the lucky one as he is delightfully entertaining, loving and sweet. Oreo is one very lucky – and very grateful – kitty.
He was found this spring huddled against a fence along Highway 100 in Edina. A good Samaritan noticed him on her way to an event and when he was still in the same exact spot hours later, she knew she had to help. When she approached, it was clear Oreo has been outside a while – he was very thin, scared to death, with various wounds on his body and paws and was limping. After initial hissing, Oreo’s hunger overcame his fear and he chomped away at the food she offered. Oreo allowed her to pick him up and take him home. He had no micro-chip and no signs of prior vet care; attempts to find his family came up empty. Over the next few weeks, Oreo adjusted to life indoors where he was safe from the cold and rain and predators and where he was lovingly cared for. His survival instincts were still present – he would hiss at everyone and would growl when eating his food. Over time, he let his guard down and began to trust and adore his temporary family (adults and kids).
Fast forward a few more weeks and the new version of Oreo is drastically different! His fur is clean and shiny and free of blood and scabs. His ribs are no longer visible and his cheeks have filled in. He shows no signs of pain and runs and jumps just like any other joyful cat. But the most drastic change has been his personality… Oreo is a loving, adoring, playful, trusting and clever kitty cat. He follows his humans around and always wants to be in the same room as them. He loves to play with toys and chase imaginary things around the house. He rubs on people’s legs begging for pets and snuggles. Oreo is a smart fella who has learned how to open doors and he also loves to meow and chat. Oreo has become a perfectly domesticated fella – he has a perfect litter box record, uses scratching posts, and is a good eater. He has met other cats and dogs and has some initial caution but with slow intros, it seems he would really love a furry best buddy.
Oreo is estimated to be a year old and has tons of energy and tons of love and some home/family is going to be very, very lucky to adopt him. He lives with her foster in Minneapolis; after applying, you are welcome to visit/meet them.
Oreo is from a stray surrender. If you are interested in getting to know this animal better, please fill out an adoption application. An adoption application is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is not a binding contract.
