Hello potential adopters! My name is Blakely, and I wanted to share some information about myself with you. I'm a wonderful and affectionate companion who would love to find my people.
One of my best qualities is that I get along well with both dogs and humans. I'm also tolerant of cats, which is a big plus if you have any feline friends at home. While I haven't been around kids, it's important to introduce me to older, respectful children gradually to ensure everyone's safety and comfort.
I should mention that I used to be a stray, so I have a tendency to wander. To keep me safe, it's important to take precautions to prevent me from escaping. This means always monitoring me in a fenced-in yard and keeping me on a leash when outside. When accessing outdoor areas, it's advisable to ensure I am behind a secure door or baby gate to prevent any accidental escapes.
I love being close to my human, and it's something I find truly endearing. Providing me with a soft and comfortable bed, and allowing me to sleep in bed with you if it's suitable for your household, will make me feel content and secure. I also enjoy treats and playing with toys, so incorporating these into my daily routine will contribute to my happiness.
It's important to note that I am heartworm positive, but please don't let that scare you away from adopting me! After undergoing treatment, I will be completely healthy again, and heartworm is not a contagious disease. Because I need treatment, I am available exclusively through Ruff Start's Foster to Adopt (FTA) program. You can click HERE to learn more about this program.
During my treatment, I will need to visit one of Ruff Start's partner veterinary clinics in St. Cloud for three injections. The first injection will be 5/24/23, and the second and third injections will happen 30 days after the first. While undergoing treatment, I should be on activity "restrictions," which simply means I should relax in my crate or cuddle with you.

If you're interested in getting to know me better, please fill out an adoption application. I would love to find a home where I can feel safe and loved, leaving my stray past as a distant memory. Thank you for considering me as your new companion!
