Meet Sunny Day! Whomever adopts her will truly always have a Sunny Day wherever they go. She is pretty much the perfect dog (for someone who prefers her traits).
She is SMART and already knows "sit", "outside" and "no". Because she’s so smart, she probably knows more commands but we are still getting acquainted. Sunny is very eager to please and HIGHLY food motivated. I'm guessing she would make an amazing pittie ambassador and could even be trained as a therapy dog! She matches the energy around her. Even though she's still young and has some puppy energy, I noticed quickly that she'll get wound up if I run and play tug .... But if I stop, she's VERY content to lay by me on the couch and cuddle and nap. Cuddling is what Sunny is ALL about!!!
I have been working on intros to our cats and will continue that process. She’s shown some excitement and energy with critters in the yard so we’ll see how things go with cat intros. An adoptive family will have to be patient integrating Sunny if they have other pets or critters and she has barked and lunged at my kitty. I’m still going to try slow intros and will update as time goes by.
She is strong (pure muscle) and FAST!! A fenced in yard where she can do zoomies would be ideal, but if they bundle her up in a warm coat and boots and walk her regularly that would probably work with her. She does NOT like the cold. She goes out IF she really has to go, does her thing, and runs right back in. She’s still young and still chews a little, but will chew her own things if she has them.
We are working on potty training, of course. Right now, we take her out regularly after she eats and drinks and she’s gone 4-5 hours with no accidents. She will be easy to potty train in a new house.
Her chin juuuust clears the countertop when she's standing. She will sniff out and devour whatever yummy smelling thing she finds. For this reason and the fact that she still jumps up (for SURE if there's food), small children not a good idea. She'd probably LOOOVE older kids.... The more cuddles she can get the better!! BUT, she wants to be with people so a family that's gone a lot isn't ideal. She gets along with other dogs with proper intros, so I think she'd LOVE non-human family too!
She lets me handle her (clean her eyes and ears, touch her feet, roll her over to see her tummy, put on a jacket and harness, kiss her face, look at her teeth). She is very calm and loving. She will HAVE TO go to a home where she is allowed on furniture and probably beds too. She sleeps up against me usually. She really wants to be right with her humans cuddling and kissing (she's a great kisser!).
Sunny Day is the total pittie package! She’ll be a great pittie for a first time pittie owner … you’ll totally fall in love with her.
