Starsky is a sweet, sensitive little guy who is happy to leave behind a life on the mean Texas streets and spend the rest of his life in laps and puppy cuddle puddles. While this quiet guy might not be a guard dog in training, he IS an easygoing gentleman who gets along with other dogs, men, women, and kids. He hasn't met cats yet, but he's pretty laid back and is more focused on his people than anything else, including toys…well, until it's time to eat, because then it's time to wiggle!

His other favorite time of day is when you walk in the room and he gets to show off his happy-dance skills. After that, he's ready for some cuddles so he can recharge his little batteries. When there isn't a lap available, he loves to curl up on the couch or in a comfy crate for a nap. While he's still mastering the finer points of potty training, he's as smart as he is cute, so he's getting there. He doesn't even mind the cold (as long as his little feet don't have to be in the white fluffy stuff for too long).

He's an ideal little chihuahua: quiet, gentle, social, smart, and patient. He's a very good boy! He would really love to stay with his brother, Hutch , who always watches out for him and loves to curl up with him when they sleep. They're very bonded and do like to play together, but they'll also do their own thing during the day, as long as they can check in with one another. These two sweet little cuddle-bugs are ready to settle in and be your new heart- and lap-warmers!

One big thing you should know is they are heartworm positive - but please don’t let that scare you away from adopting them! After they undergo treatment for their condition they will be completely healthy again, and heartworm is not a contagious disease.

They will get heartworm treatment at one of Ruff Start’s partner veterinary clinics in St. Cloud, so their foster will need to be comfortable getting them to and from the appointments. Treatment will consist of three injections: the first will be roughly 30 days after they enter rescue. Then, the second and third injections will happen 30 days after the first. When they are undergoing treatment, they should be on activity ‘restrictions’ which just means they should relax in their crate or cuddle with you.   Click here to learn more about heartworm disease, which is transmitted by mosquitoes. If you are interested in getting to know this animal better, please fill out an adoption application. An adoption application is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is not a binding contract.
