Meet Alice! This kitty is super shy, but she's coming around nicely!

She hides at first when I come into her room but will make slow blinks (blows kisses) at me once she feels safe in a hidey hole. As long as she’s in a hiding place, she loves being brushed. We’ve worked up to her enjoying hand pats/scritches, and she will lick churro treats off my fingers without fear after a bit of brushing. She purrs now when I pet her! We’ve made some great progress over the past month and she has voluntarily come out of hiding when I’m in the room five times now. As long as I don’t move to pat her, she’ll walk past me to a different hiding place and will gaze at me/do slow blinks on the way. She will not come close enough to be touched. I think Alice would eventually make a great cuddly lap pet. She really loves being pet and brushed.

But, it will definitely take a lot of patience and loving care. She’s so sweet, but very afraid. I’ve had two loud and boisterous kids come by to help socialize the cats, and she was absolutely fine with that as long as she could gaze on from her hidey hole and we didn’t try to engage with her (beyond her licking churro off my fingers, which she did while they were there).

Look at the progress Alice has made, finally approaching for pets.

For some further insight into this sweet mama cat, I have a nanny cam in their room so I can hear them when I’m not there. Alice chirps and mrrrs a bunch and is quite vocal. She is an extremely attentive mom and plays with her kittens. I’ve never seen her play with toys … she might not know how. She watches me play with the babies when I’m there, and she purrs really hard when she allows me to approach and pet her. She hates it when anyone comes in her room but loves it when she finally allows you to brush and pat her. She curls up and onto her back when she’s particularly enjoying a good brushing.

With time and patience, Alice will learn to trust and live her best life as your furever kitty friend! Wanna meet her? Let’s chat!
