*Bonded with Leine*

A super sweet momma, Sweet Martha and her 6 kittens came to Ruff Start from South Dakota where they were found outside and alone.  She is especially bonded with her son,  Leine, and they must be adopted together as part of the Mommy and Me program.

The fantastic family of 7 have been with their foster family since the babies were 1 week old, and have been delightful in every way.  Sweet Martha is only a year old and has been an absolutely exceptional momma to her large group of kittens.  She even tolerates them pouncing on her head and tag-team playing with her tail. Martha does appreciate her 'alone time' (who can blame her!) and loves to sit in a human lap and snuggle.  She loves to be around humans and will occasionally meow to get your attention and will chat back when you talk to her. Sweet Martha is incredibly easy going – she likes being picked up and willingly allowed her foster family to put Halloween costumes and clothes on her. Now that her kittens are a little more independent, Sweet Martha is not as exhausted and has started to play with toys, get the zoomies, and romp with her kittens. She has plenty of spunk to go with her incredibly sweet demeanor.

Sweet Martha has not been around other cats or dogs regularly. When there were brief accidental encounters, she went into “protective momma mode”. With slow introductions, just about any people or pets or situations should be fine with her.

Each member of this family uses the litter box well,  uses scratching posts, and are good eaters. If you are looking to add maximum cuteness, tons of fun and many snuggles to your home, then this special momma/son pair might be for you!

Sweet Martha is from a reservation in South Dakota. If you are interested in getting to know this animal better, please fill out an adoption application. An adoption application is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is not a binding contract.

Want to adopt a kitten? We highly recommend you consider bringing home two instead of one! Adopting kittens in pairs has been proven to be beneficial for cats’ emotional and behavioral well-being and greatly improves the likelihood of long-term adopter happiness as a result. Adopting more than one kitten also reduces the risk of “Single Kitten Syndrome” (also known as Tarzan Syndrome), a symptom of under-socialization during a kitten’s most formative weeks. Kittens who are under-socialized may develop aggressive tendencies toward both other animals and humans as they grow, creating lifelong behavioral issues for owners.
