Hi! My name is Embla and I am a very special kitty with rare brown fur, kind eyes and a sweet soul. I look like the rare breed Havana Brown but better as my fur is a speckled combo of browns. In addition, I have the kindest eyes ever and they reveal my very gentle soul. Right now, I am a very cautious kitty who has been through a lot. I will require extra patience and understanding but I promise that I will be worth it.
I am only a year old and had a less-than-ideal start to life. I was removed from a hoarding situation where I lived with 70+ other cats. Life was crowded and messy and I had minimal human interaction. I am here with 3 ‘siblings’ – Kai, Freya and Maya – and being with them has made all of the changes much easier. I would LOVE to find a home together with one of them.
Even with my pals around me, the recent changes have been a lot for me to handle. I was fairly ‘shut down’ at first but I am making progress every day. I know in my heart that my foster and other people are kind, but I just have had so little experience thus far. I have found that I am most comfortable hiding under or behind things and watching the action. I see my other kitty friends get pets and sit on laps and I want to join them but I am hesitant.
Sometimes, I feel relaxed enough to let my foster mom pick me up. I really like it when she holds me and pets me – the chin rubs are especially awesome. When I have been to the vet or met others, I never lash out – I just stay very still and watch with very big eyes. I am just learning about trust and love and have amazing potential for both.
I am perfectly and completely domesticated - I use the litter box and scratching posts the way I am supposed to and I am not at all picky about food. I will do best in a quieter home where I can have some quiet/privacy while I get acclimated. I have not been around other cats or dogs or small children - I think they will overwhelm me at first. I have been through a lot of change the last couple of weeks and it has been stressful. But I am learning – bit by bit – that I am safe and loved. I promise that if folks are understanding and patient with me, I will give you 100% of my trust and adoration. I just might be purr-fect for you/your home! Thanks in advance for taking a chance on me.
(I am currently living in Minneapolis; my foster family and I welcome visits from potential adopters).
