Gertie - Special Needs

Hi hi hi, I’m Gertie!  I came from a farm with too many cats, but I’m not your typical barn cat -  I am SUPER social, loving, and people-oriented. At the farm, I would linger on the front steps of the house a lot, waiting for humans to come out and give me lovin’s! I had big dreams of becoming someone’s special companion as an indoor kitty. Now I’m ready to make my dreams a reality!

I’m a humble girl and would never brag, but my foster mom will - she says I am a 10 out of 10! I’m great with people, other cats, and dogs! I like everyone I meet, I am super playful and fun to watch, and I LOVE other cats. I’m brave, bold, and funny! I love to play with toys, especially motion toys and wand toys, romp around, and get the zoomies!

Since I grew up on a farm with a big family of other cats, I’ll need a kitty companion in my new home. I’ve never lived without other kitties and I would be sad without one.

IMPORTANT UPDATE: After some veterinary work, it was determined that I have a chronic upper respiratory infection. At this time there is no further care needed, but my adopter should know I have flare- ups with a runny nose and sneezing.  My future adopter will need to follow up with their veterinarian if one of my flare-ups turns into a more severe upper respiratory infection requiring medication. I also likely have a condition called lymphedema (not to be confused with lymphoma) and my adopter should connect with their vet for best management of this. In addition, I shouldn't go to a home with other kitties because I might be contagious to them.

I know I sound like a little bit more of a responsibility than some kitties, but I am so 100% worth it, I promise! I can’t wait to meet my person and go to my forever home to start my life with them. Are you the right person to make my dreams come true?  Love, Gertie
