Hi, I am Shiloh. I start off pretty shy if I don’t know you. I might even be shaky for a while, but I promise you, if I spend a little more time with you, I will break out of my shell. My foster mom has a nice family room where I can run back and forth. I love being in her lap. I like toys even though I don’t really know how to play fetch. My kennel is my safe place. I don’t like when humans reach into my kennel so please respect my place. I also don’t like it when humans reach to grab my collar or harness…I get very scared. Because I’m skittish, older considerate kids would likely be okay and with proper intros, I might even like the little kiddos. As for dogs, I’m really not interested in them much as I really just want to cuddle and lay in my forever family’s lap and sleep. I am quiet, so I think I will do well in places with shared walls. I can’t wait to go to my forever home.

Shiloh was given to a family while they were walking down the street.  They were told that his current family was moving out of the country and could not take him with them.  Shiloh is very timid, shy and protective when first meeting him.  The family that he was given to didn't know how to help him be the best dog he can be and then he came to us!

After some patience and care, Shiloh has come out of his shell and he is becoming a great dog!  He is still learning the leash but if you have a yard he will follow you everywhere.  He is potty trained and loves to run around in the yard.  When you first meet him you will think he is a rude little man but after you spend some time with him you will see that he is an affectionate little stinker that is just scared of strangers.

Shiloh weighs 6lbs and is from Texas.

One big thing you should know is they are heartworm positive - but please don’t let that scare you away from adopting them! After they undergo treatment for their condition they will be completely healthy again, and heartworm is not a contagious disease.

Because they need treatment, they are available exclusively through Ruff Start’s Foster to Adopt (FTA) program. Click here to learn more about this program.

They will get heartworm treatment at one of Ruff Start’s partner veterinary clinics in St. Cloud, so their foster will need to be comfortable getting them to and from the appointments. Treatment will consist of three injections: the first will be roughly 30 days after they enter rescue. Then, the second and third injections will happen 30 days after the first. When they are undergoing treatment, they should be on activity ‘restrictions’ which just means they should relax in their crate or cuddle with you.   Click here to learn more about heartworm disease, which is transmitted by mosquitoes. If you are interested in getting to know this animal better, please fill out an adoption application. An adoption application is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is not a binding contract.
