Meet 2 year old Kai! Kai is basically still a puppy! After living the shelter life, she is still in the hyper-zoomies phase of coming out of the shelter and needs to be kenneled if not directly supervised as she’s still getting acclimated to living in a home. She's still learning what is and is not a toy and just wants to play with any and everything at grabbing level because she’s curious to learn about all the new stuff. She is picking up potty training when kept on a schedule but does still have accidents.

She has adjusted well into a home with multiple resident dogs of all playfulness levels and at first had a hard time with them telling her to take it down a notch but has very quickly learned her place and is learning dog manners. If added to another home with dogs, she is into playful, roughhousing and if she gets bored will become bothersome to the older less playful dogs. She will need to be in a home that has the time and patience to keep her stimulated. Because she was a shelter pup, she has a tendency to resource guard her food so needs to be fed separately from other pets and shouldn't have bones laying around. She does not resource guard toys. Because so much is new to her, she does seem to get overstimulated at this time so probably best to go to a home without cats.

She LOVES children and would adore some older, sturdy kids to throw her body against. She is obsessed with her two new human foster sisters that are 3 & 4 years old and are used to big dogs knocking into them. However, I would advise against younger children only for the reason that she thinks she's a lapdog and will roll into your lap and lay there like a pancake for only a minute, then get up and bolt and zoom around. Such a silly girl!

If Kai could play all day, every day she would; all she wants to do is wrestle and be goofy. Kai is looking for a family to give her time, love and patience to be her best self. Could that be you?

Kai weighs 45 lbs and is from a local impound. If you are interested in getting to know this animal better, please fill out an adoption application. An adoption application is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is not a binding contract.
