Dicey (Sophie) is estimated to be about 2 years old and just a treasure. She is calm, relaxed and gentle even when she plays.  After being a mama to eight pups, she's ready to be a part of her own family.
Sophie is about 45 pounds and fairly petite.  She has a body like a lab and ears like a shepherd. Her fur is soft and she loves to be petted. She's attentive (those ears are always on a swivel) and loves her people; she prefers them in her line of sight and wakes up from her nap in an instant to be a part of anything that happens in her home. Sophie is puppy-like when she plays sometimes so does need to learn some manners, but she's always gentle.
Squishy toys are her favorites and she likes to carry them around and keep them in her bed. Squishies are cared for and monitored to make sure they are nearby. She will often toss them and play with them all by herself.
We used a kennel for a short time with Sophie when she first lived with us and she didn't mind it; she even sought it out when things were too stimulating, but she's completely housebroken and has had no accidents so we put it aside. She sleeps on the floor at the end of our bed with no issues.
Sophie has learned "sit" and she will "fetch" until she's bored, but we are still working on "down" and "stay".  Now that the puppies are weaned, we can keep her attention longer so we'll keep working on it. She is learning to walk on a leash during her two walks each day. She still pulls (and she's strong), especially if another dog or a squirrel happens by. Sophie loves her walks, and will sit by the door and stare at us each morning and evening when it gets to be nearly "walk time". She loves to be outside and smelling all the good smells in the air! Incidentally, the calm, patient stare is also how she tells us she needs to go out.
Take a look at these videos of Sophie playing with a toy or playing fetch!
Sophie will be easily trainable; she loves affection and attention and will seek it out. She wants to do what you want. She responds well to treats. When introduced to small children she largely ignored them; older children and adults mean she might get attention so she'll be right there next to them. She does tend to jump up on new and exciting people, and we're working on that.
If strangers come near the door or walk by in the street Sophie will sometimes bark, but as soon as we tell her everything is OK she'll stop. We haven't introduced her to other dogs because of the puppies, and keeping her safe and unexposed to unknown dogs and spaces was a priority. My sense is she'll be slow to warm up and move into a "protective" mode, but be fine when properly introduced.
All in all, Sophie is a wonderful dog who needs an attentive family who will enjoy playing with her and tossing her a squishy toy!
