Howdy, I'm Camila Claus! Not long ago, I was footloose and fancy free living in Texas.  I did whatever I wanted until I met this guy.  We got along pretty well and the next thing I knew, I was pregnant. That guy turned out to be a loser and left me alone with puppies.  Since times were tough, I moved my babies in under a trailer home. 

We were getting along ok but boy, taking care of those babies alone was work. I guess the babies were a little noisy and someone heard them. Some really great people came and were able to get the babies and then, they got me. We were all taken to a foster home. It was so much better raising my babies inside a home with help.  
 
After the babies got old enough, they were all adopted. I decided to leave Texas and hitched a ride to Minnesota with this rescue group.  I’ve been in Minnesota now for a few months and I really like it. The snow was really fun and I didn’t mind the cold at all and I like  living inside and having my own servants. My meals are all prepared for me and I sleep on soft beds. It’s way better than living under that trailer. 

My foster brothers and sister are really fun to play with and I’m a lot happier with friends. I really like the cat that lives here, sometimes she snuggles with me and that makes me feel happy. 
 
I am trying really hard to be brave and I really like my foster mom, but I’m not brave enough yet to let her play with me.  She keeps trying to walk me on a leash but I’m scared.  I have no idea where she wants to take me so I just lay down so she can’t make me go.  I’m just so happy to be warm and safe, I’m worried to venture too far from that safety just yet.  I am a really sweet girl and just need to learn how to trust these servants. I really would love a home of my own, one with a very friendly confident dog would be wonderful … to continue to show me the ropes. I have been watching these other dogs and they know how to sit and walk on a leash. I really want to learn those things and hope to be able to go to training. And, I forgot to mention, I let the servants know when I have to go outside.

I know I have a bright future ahead of me and I’m so happy to be in Minnesota. I really would like my own family but they will need to be very patient with me.  Eventually I will be brave and just hope someone will take the time to get to know me. Will you be my forever family and help me to live my best life?

Camila Claus weighs 70 lbs and is from Texas. One big thing you should know is they are heartworm positive - but please don’t let that scare you away from adopting them! After they undergo treatment for their condition they will be completely healthy again, and heartworm is not a contagious disease. Because they need treatment, they are available exclusively through Ruff Start’s Foster to Adopt (FTA) program. Click here to learn more about this program. They will get heartworm treatment at one of Ruff Start’s partner veterinary clinics in St. Cloud, so their foster will need to be comfortable getting them to and from the appointments. Treatment will consist of three injections: the first will be roughly 30 days after they enter rescue. Then, the second and third injections will happen 30 days after the first. When they are undergoing treatment, they should be on activity ‘restrictions’ which just means they should relax in their crate or cuddle with you.
