Hi there! My name is Johnny and I came to Ruff Start from Texas originally. Well, actually - I’m still there! Since I haven’t arrived in Minnesota yet, I’m available exclusively through Ruff Start’s Foster-to-Adopt (FTA) Program.

I was found living in an empty lot of a very busy road in Houston, Texas. Where I was found is a place traditionally "dump" dogs. Which is pretty sad, huh? On a brighter note, I was SO lucky to be found and brought into rescue. I really want a family to call my own! I live with older kids, adults, and dogs of all sizes. I do amazing with everyone! I haven't met cats though, so I'm not sure how I'd do with them. I am a young pup though, so with proper and slow introductions, I may do well with them too. I'm a pretty smart gal, and I'm already potty trained, and know sit, stay, and come! Well, unless I'm outside playing.. then I have a bit of selective hearing when it comes to commands ;) High energy? You bet! I hope you're ready to bring me on walks, hikes, and yard time with toys to help wear me out. I am still overcoming my fear with leashes, as I'm still timid when approached with one. I think with more positive reinforcement, I will get more comfortable. I am a bit shy when I meet new people, but with a little time and some pets, I come out of my shell! Once I do, I love to try to sit on your lap. What.. at 40lb puppies not allowed to be lap dogs? That's ridiculous.. hehe. I love chew toys, and love to play fetch. My foster family describe me as a playful, affectionate, social butterfly. After I get my energy out in the yard, I love nothing more than to curl up and nap.. with a side of belly rubs please.

*The breed of a shelter puppy is often times a guess based on what traits the dog presents when they are brought into the shelter. We cannot guarantee the breed or size they will be full grown.*

I arrive in Minnesota on 12/4 and will need to be picked up from the Ruff Start Rescue office in Princeton, MN. Once I get there, I might require further veterinary care. Ruff Start’s veterinary suite is located in Princeton, MN, and, as my foster, you will be required to transport me to and from these vetting appointments.

To apply for this animal via our foster-to-adopt program, please submit an adoption application: www.ruffstartrescue.org/adopt/adoption-application/.
