Preena is a happy, itty-bitty(about 8 lbs) cuddly girl.  She’s quiet and is content to snuggle in a warm blanket on the couch, the bed or wherever you are.  She loves to give smooches.  She likes other dogs- cuddles and plays throughout the day. She leaves the cat alone.  She appreciates cuddly toys and chew toys.  She’s a good little eater.  She goes outside to potty- IF you go out with her.  She also knows how to use potty pads.  Preena is also a very high-energy girl that would love another doggie friend in the household to wrestle and play with.

I’m not sure that Preena knows how to be even a little bit naughty.
So far, her favorite Netflix shows are Longmire and Great British Baking Show- a lady who appreciates some variety.

One big thing about me you should know is that I’m heartworm positive - but please don’t let that scare you away from adopting me! After I undergo treatment for my condition, I will be completely healthy again, and heartworm is not a contagious disease.

Because I need treatment, I am available exclusively through Ruff Start’s foster-to-adopt program. You can learn more about that program by visiting www.ruffstartrescue.org/adopt/fostering-to-adopt-available-animals/ .

I will get my heartworm treatment at one of Ruff Start’s partner veterinary clinics in St. Cloud, so my foster will need to be comfortable getting me there for my appointments. My treatment will comprise three injections: the first will be roughly 30 days after I enter rescue. Then, the second and third injections will happen 30 days after the first.

When I am undergoing my treatment, I should be on ‘restrictions’ which just means I should relax in my crate or cuddle with you. Also, when we go on walks, I should always be kept on a leash so I don’t over-exert myself!

To learn more about heartworm disease, which is transmitted by mosquitoes, please visit the following link: https://www.heartwormsociety.org/pet-owner-resources/heartworm-basics .

I am sweet and social and crate trained and use the dog door in my foster home in TX. I have not been around cats or kids. I have an amazing disposition, and I love other dogs and spend most of my time with dogs my size. I am very human and dog friendly and do like those my size a lot!

To apply for this animal via our foster-to-adopt program, please submit an adoption application: www.ruffstartrescue.org/adopt/adoption-application/ .
