Hello, my name is Leena (my foster mom calls me Lily) and I hail from Houston, TX. I must be part hound since I sing to sirens and another dog barking. I was heartworm positive but my treatments are over and I am feeling better. I am now on my journey of finding a forever home, will that be you?
I am about a year old and 50 lbs. I do have behaviors of a young dog such as using my mouth and barking to get your attention but I am learning to find a different tactic. I do like attention but I also like to play with my toys and chew on nylabones. I am crate and potty trained and will even go in my kennel just to lay down. Don’t get me wrong, the couch and bed are nice to lay on as well! I also like to cuddle.
Due to my breed, I like to be outdoors and ride well in the car. I would like a fenced-in yard so I can just hang out and possibly hunt squirrels and bunnies in the backyard. I do well on a tie-out but can pull it out of the ground if a chipmunk goes by. I LOVE to go for walks and can recognize what shoes you are putting on.
My foster mom tells me I am very smart and can learn quickly plus I am food motivated . I am doing very well with, “sit”, “wait”, and “leave it”. I do not react to fireworks or storms. I prefer slow introductions and can coexist with other dogs but I do need my play style monitored for appropriate play. I will play bow, slap my feet and use my mouth to get the other dog’s attention to play. Although I am doing well learning to loose leash walk, I need help with reactivity to other dogs and chasing squirrels/bunnies while walking.
I am a young girl who needs my forever home to invest some time and training in to me. I promise you will reap huge rewards for your efforts….just look at my face! I know I am hard to resist! Please fill out an application if you think I would fit well with your lifestyle.
If you are interested in getting to know me better, please fill out an adoption application at www.ruffstartrescue.org/adopt/adoption-application . An adoption application is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is not a binding contract.
