Hello, I'm Charlotte. I'm very shy and scared. I lost a litter of kittens right when I first came to the rescue, and I'd never really interacted with humans before that. Even though I've been with my foster family for months, I am still getting used to the idea that I'm safe. I prefer to find a hidy hole, but I'm slowly warming up. My foster family has been working to get me used to people, but it's slow going. I'll emerge for food, and I really like pets and scratches, but my fear takes over sometimes, and if I can't escape, I'll lash out. I very consistently use the litter box, even when I'm dead set on hiding.
I've met one child and it stressed me out a lot. Because I'm already so skittish and lash out when I'm scared, I will do best in a home without children. I am indifferent to the dogs and other cat in the house, but there was a puppy here for a week, and he was even worse than the human child! I need to find a quiet home with humans who are either content with a mostly absent cat or who are able to put in lots of patient time with me and aren't afraid of the occasional injury during the process.
Because I'm still adjusting to house life, my foster humans don't really know who I'll be once/if I come out of my shell. I love pets and scratches so much that my foster family thinks I'd love being a lap cat if and when I get comfortable enough, but that may never happen. I'm looking for a family who will love me no matter whoever I grow up to be or how I turn out and will give me love and pets and patience.
