Hi, my name is Bill Nye and I came from Texas. I currently weigh 14 lbs.

I have had a VERY ruff past. I first lived in a hoarder house with many different animals... they didn't take very good care of us and I was very under socialized. When I got out of there, I went to a scary shelter. That wasn't good either. Then a foster came and scooped me to tell me I'm getting the heck outta Texas and moving to Minnesota. I didn't know what that meant, but it sounds better than where I've been! There's one thing you should know about me... I've always been terrified of hands... they are so scary! They move quickly, they're grabby, they try and pick me up. NO THANK YOU to all of that. I used to LOVE LOVE LOVE other dogs and want to spend my whole day following them around. Then I got adopted last year and well... I don't know quite what happened, but I went back to being completely under socialized again. :-(

My new foster family had known me when I was friendly with all the other dogs and would take food from humans and would sit on the couch by you as long as you didn't try and pet me, so now they're working really hard to push me to get back there. I used to LOVE playing with other dogs! It's a lot of work, but I'm starting to show glimmers of progress. If you're looking for a happy, well adjusted dog who can do things like go for walks, play with other dogs and be pet.. well.. I'm sorry to say that's not what you're going to find here. I used to have a kennel, but I started refusing to come out of it, so they took the kennel away for 2 months. Now I only use it when scary new people come over. They leave it open on the floor so I can choose to go hide when it's too much. Now, I spend most of my day on the back corner of the couch where I KNOW that no one can sneak up on me. If you do approach, I will start shaking and if you get TOO close, then I will run away and hide. I don't want ANY pets, I don't like to have a leash on, I'm not brave enough to go potty outside, and I don't want to eat food if you're still touching it.

My people have learned that I'm starting to REALLY respond to people food though. While it's a little unorthodox, they are teaching me to come into the kitchen when they are cooking or eating and if I get just close enough, they may toss me a snack! Yum! I typically wait until overnight when everyone is sleeping to sneak off of my couch and go potty. My foster mom isn't thrilled because I prefer to go on the carpet over the hardwood or tile. Outside is too exposed for me and it's hard for me to guarantee that no one can sneak up on me out there!

I know that I sound like a lot of work, but my fosters are convinced that there is still a good dog buried in there and that I'm just starting to come around for them to be able to interact with me in my own way. If you have the time and the capacity for love for a project dog like me, please apply right away! I'll put in the work if you will!

If you are interested in getting to know me better, please fill out an adoption application. An adoption application is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is not a binding contract.
