Hi, my name is Reggie and I came as an Unclaimed Stay.

Reggie is my name and playing is my game. My foster mom says that I am a shy but energetic boy. Once I learn to trust my new home and come out from hiding, then I am quite the character and full of funny antics. I love playing, leaping, climbing, chasing feather toys, catnip, and getting petted. I am a tall, lean boy too… my foster mom says I’m the biggest cat she has seen.

My favorite hobby is chasing bugs and finding ways to get to the highest spot in the room (usually a dresser or my cat tower). I’m super curious and like to sit on the window sill watching the birds in the trees and the critters scurrying across the neighbor’s rooftop. You might even find me reaching up to touch door knobs - if doors are closed. Mom says I can be pretty friggin’ adorable. I love peeking around corners and periodically stopping by to say ‘Hi’.  If you are working at your computer, you can expect me to stand up behind you and paw your behind, asking for pets. (Treats are ok too, if you insist.) I am also shy. If someone moves too quickly or if there is a loud noise, then you’ll find me hiding behind the nearest piece of furniture… until it’s safe to come out again.

During quiet times (in between naps), you’ll find me patrolling the perimeter with my head held high, chortling (cute little sounds) to get attention. My other favorite thing to do includes sneaking up on my old (and not too terribly friendly!) foster cat sister. She is annoyed by me, but I just want to play.

I grew up in a one-person, quiet household and I’m used to getting all the attention.  But my foster mom’s house has another cat and two big dogs.  Maybe your home has an active feline like me, and that could be fun. Or if you don’t have other cats, that’s ok too… I’m cool with just getting all the love and attention.  Dogs are new to me.  I’m pretty unsure about them. If a big one walks past me - I might just reach out with a quick swat and give a little hiss, because ‘the best defense is a good offense’. Maybe with a cat-savvy dog and a little time, I can warm up to a dog.

I am healthy, happy, and I ALWAYS use my litter box. (Don’t tell mom but I prefer to use my foster sister’s litter box because I have to keep reminding her that I am here - so she’ll play with me one day!) Until then, I’ll just patrol the house and take naps on a warm spot on the bed.  Hit me up if you want to meet me.

If you are interested in getting to know me better, please fill out an adoption application at www.ruffstartrescue.org/adopt/adoption-application . An adoption application is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is not a binding contract.
