Because I’m part of a bonded pair, I need to be adopted with my friend, Odell. Click here to learn more about him!
* Juniper is quiet and takes time to warm up to her humans. She will do anything for a treat.
* Odell is not shy, is very loving and loves attention.
Take a look at these cute videos of Odell and Junioer::
They both know basic commands like sit, lay down, stay, give paw and back to get them to back off. They both sit and stay while you put food bowls down and as long as it is repeated they will stay until you say “OKAY” for them to eat.
They are very bonded … Where one goes the other follows. They groom each other and sleep together. Juniper is happy to let Odell take the leading roll, while she watches and piggybacks the rewards. They do well on leash separate but still need training to walk together. Odell will sit and wait to cross roads, however Juniper doesn’t like sitting outside unless she is sunbathing. They both react to bikes and dogs and they soon stop when they can not see the trigger.
They are only vocal regarding strangers entering the house and when you come home. Once they have said hello they dance around for loving. They are both very food focused. Super intelligent and could become masterminds with the right training. They entertain each other play fighting which can sound very aggressive to those not used to dog play. Juniper is the instigator of this play (she lets her halo drop), but they love each other and it is all play.
They do not seem to want to go on long walks and prefer to do what they have to do and coming in to relax or play with each other. It’s important to know they need out approx 30 min after meals. We have a good routine … 6am pee (Odell poops) and then we all have breakfast; 7am poop time and then play time while I work. Then it’s just quick pee breaks as they ask (they huff and move about more when they are telling you they need a comfort break). By 4pm they are ready for more interactive walk and leash/trigger training. 5pm dinner time and 6pm poop. Then they relax for the night and only need comfort breaks until last potty break before bed.
All in all this bonded pair are very easy to read and would do well in a quieter home with older children that are dog savvy. Cats we are working on but as the terrier breed is predominant this may take more professional training time and A LOT of treats when they ignore the cat.
To sum this bonded pair up in three words… relaxed snuggle buddies. We are the sweetest fur kids!
