Kayla Knudsen initially found Ruff Start Rescue® on Facebook and, after a few years of following the rescue, began her Ruff Start® journey in early 2018. As creative coordinator, Kayla identifies key, large-scale creative projects that need to be completed to continue enhancing the rescue’s overall communicative brand and vision and works to complete them within her skill sets.
A graduate of South Dakota State University, Kayla holds a degree in graphic design and minors in both professional writing and visual arts. Her career path to this point has included working in a wide array of environments as a veterinary assistant, social media manager, graphic designer, and marketing strategist, among other roles. She realized in 2017 that animal advocacy was her true passion and decided to dedicate what she could of her life to helping the furry friends she loves by volunteering and fostering for the rescue as well.
She currently lives in Harris with her husband, Nathan; daughter, Greta; two cats, Kunu and Pippin; and three-legged dog (who happens to be a Ruff Start alum!), Portage. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, reading, writing, traveling, spending time on the lake, and cooking.
