Dr. Mitten

Veterinarian

Dr. Emily Mitten grew up fostering homeless dogs and cats from animal shelters and always knew that she wanted to continue her passion of saving animals as a career. As part of her undergraduate studies, she participated in an internship at Best Friends Animal Society in Utah focusing on animal training and behavior modification. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science at Iowa State University and then went on to attend veterinary school at Iowa State College of Veterinary Medicine.

Dr. Mitten has particular interests in surgery, behavior, and of course, shelter medicine. In her free time, Dr. Mitten enjoys working on home renovation projects with her husband and spending time with her new baby.   Dr. Mitten and her family have fostered over 120 animals (and counting) and so far have only kept three!
