“I’m not old… I’m delightfully experienced!”

Did you know that well-cared-for chinchillas can live up to 20 years, sometimes even longer? That’s right! At 11 years young, I may still have plenty of wonderful years ahead of me!

I’ve perfected the art of enjoying the little things in life. I’m a calm, quiet lady, but don’t let my age fool you! I’m still curious about the world around me, and I absolutely LOVE spending time on my wheel!

I’m not one for making a fuss. I prefer to take life at my own pace, enjoy my favorite activities, and observe everything going on around me.

I’m looking for someone who will appreciate my gentle personality and give me a comfortable place to call my own. And here’s a bonus! I can even come with my fully set-up cage, if you’d like it. Talk about move-in ready!

So, if you’re looking for a quiet, curious companion with a little life experience and plenty of personality, I might just be your girl!

Love, Trixie

NOTE ABOUT BREED LABELING: Visual breed identification of dogs is unreliable and usually inaccurate. So, for most of our adoptable pups, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog or puppy as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label.

Please read the following general requirements carefully before submitting an adoption application. While this criteria is our typical standard, we understand all situations are unique! Don’t be discouraged if you don’t feel you meet one of these bullet points – feel free to submit an application anyway, so we can discuss your situation with you.

  • Applicants must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Submitted applications must be filled out fully and factually.
  • All applicants must reside in the state of Minnesota or its bordering states, unless a special exception has been made. Please email us at info@ruffstartrescue.org if you would like to discuss the potential for an out of state adoption.
  • Consider how you’ll manage an isolation period and be sure all existing pets are up-to-date on vaccinations and other routine health care before bringing a new pet home. An isolation period would be good for allowing that animal to settle in and learn the routine.
  • Please be aware of any rental/association or homeowners’ insurance restrictions you may have before applying. Such limits may include breed restrictions, number of pets allowed, weight requirements, etc.
  • All adopted animals must live indoors with their families and always be monitored closely when outdoors for their safety (with the exception of working cats).
  • We do not allow any medically-unnecessary surgical procedures, such as declawing; defanging; debarking; or cropping/docking (of tails or ears) to be conducted on any animal adopted from our rescue.
