Meet Tito🐾 – A playful, affectionate boy looking for his place!
Tito is a fun-loving, toy-obsessed pup with a big heart and a sweet, sensitive side! He loves tossing his toys around for a game of “self-fetch,” chewing on his favorite bones, exploring outside, and relaxing near his favorite people. Once he feels safe, Tito’s affectionate personality shines through — he’ll lean against you for attention, ask for belly rubs, and happily keep you company on the couch.

💛 A Sensitive Soul Who Blossoms With Trust

Tito can be shy around new people, unfamiliar environments, and sudden noises or movements. He does best with calm, patient people who let him approach at his own pace. Once comfortable, he loves checking in with his trusted humans and being close to them.

Tito has also struggled with separation anxiety, but he’s making progress learning to settle when left alone for short periods. He would do best in a home where his people are consistently present throughout the day, with alone time introduced gradually as his confidence grows.

🧸 Playful, Smart, and Still Learning

Tito loves entertaining himself with toys, making a securely fenced yard a great potential bonus for playtime and sniffing adventures! He still needs regular interaction, companionship, and engagement with his people, along with daily walks and continued training.

Like many young dogs, Tito is still learning how to manage his excitement. He can jump up and bite or tug at clothing when overstimulated. Formal training with a qualified, positive-reinforcement trainer would be especially beneficial to help him develop better manners, learn to regulate his excitement, and build the skills he needs to succeed in different environments. Continued training will be particularly important before introducing him to a home with children.

Tito is fully house-trained, knows “sit”, “lay down”, and still working on “stay”. He sleeps comfortably in his crate at night and is making progress with his leash manners.

🏡 Could Tito Be Your Match?

Tito is looking for a patient, understanding adopter who will respect his boundaries, celebrate his progress, and help him grow in confidence. His ideal home will offer a predictable routine, consistent companionship, positive training, and the time to help him feel secure.

In return, you’ll get a silly, loving companion with a playful spirit and so much potential. Tito doesn’t need someone to expect perfection — he needs someone willing to help him feel safe, learn, and discover just how wonderful life can be. Could you be his person? 🐶💗

NOTE ABOUT BREED LABELING: Visual breed identification of dogs is unreliable and usually inaccurate. So, for most of our adoptable pups, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog or puppy as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label.

Please read the following general requirements carefully before submitting an adoption application. While this criteria is our typical standard, we understand all situations are unique! Don’t be discouraged if you don’t feel you meet one of these bullet points – feel free to submit an application anyway, so we can discuss your situation with you.

  • Applicants must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Submitted applications must be filled out fully and factually.
  • All applicants must reside in the state of Minnesota or its bordering states, unless a special exception has been made. Please email us at info@ruffstartrescue.org if you would like to discuss the potential for an out of state adoption.
  • Consider how you’ll manage an isolation period and be sure all existing pets are up-to-date on vaccinations and other routine health care before bringing a new pet home. An isolation period would be good for allowing that animal to settle in and learn the routine.
  • Please be aware of any rental/association or homeowners’ insurance restrictions you may have before applying. Such limits may include breed restrictions, number of pets allowed, weight requirements, etc.
  • All adopted animals must live indoors with their families and always be monitored closely when outdoors for their safety (with the exception of working cats).
  • We do not allow any medically-unnecessary surgical procedures, such as declawing; defanging; debarking; or cropping/docking (of tails or ears) to be conducted on any animal adopted from our rescue.
