Allow us to introduce Thomas Gustafson, an orange gentleman with strong opinions, excellent whiskers, and absolutely no interest in being managed by amateurs.
Thomas is a particular boy. He knows what he likes, what he dislikes, and—most importantly—he believes everyone else should know, too. He can be a little shy when first meeting new people, but fortunately, there is a highly effective diplomatic tool: Churu. Present one and suddenly negotiations are underway.
Thomas would thrive as an only cat with an experienced owner who understands that sometimes the best way to show love is to respect a cat’s very reasonable boundaries.
Children? Thomas would prefer they remain a distant concept.
Other cats? Also no.
Being picked up? Absolutely not.
Carriers? Also absolutely not. Thomas has reviewed the carrier situation and formally rejected it.
But don’t mistake his boundaries for a lack of affection. Thomas is actually a very loving boy, and he expresses that love through an impressive quantity of head bumps. If you are lucky enough to be chosen, prepare for enthusiastic forehead-to-human contact.
Thomas is also perfectly litter box trained, because while he may have strong opinions about many things, bathroom etiquette is apparently non-negotiable.
And then there are mice.
Thomas is an excellent mouser, and if there happens to be a mouse in his new home, his adopter will be made aware of the situation. Thomas believes in keeping his humans informed about important household developments—and he will gladly take care of the problem himself. Think of him as a highly motivated, four-legged pest-control professional.
Of course, despite his impressive hunting résumé, Thomas needs an indoor-only home. His mouse-catching services will be provided strictly within the confines of his residence.
Thomas isn’t looking for just any person. He’s looking for someone confident, cat-savvy, patient, and willing to appreciate him for the glorious orange character he is. In return, he offers head bumps, impeccable litter box habits, excellent mouse-catching credentials, and the distinct honor of being chosen by Thomas Gustafson.
If you appreciate a cat with personality, boundaries, and a firm grasp of workplace expectations, Thomas may be your guy.
