Meet Pork Chop, a tiny tornado of fun with a serious talent for turning ordinary kittenhood into an Olympic sport! 🎉🐾

Found all alone on the side of a dirt road, Pork Chop wasted no time settling into his new, much safer life. Once he realized he was in good hands, the kitten energy came pouring out! Chasing toys, pouncing on anything that moves, wrestling with his brother, and launching into spontaneous acrobatics are all part of a typical day for this little guy.

Pork Chop is especially talented at the art of the kitten pounce. The wiggle of the little rear end is the warning sign—once that happens, something is about to get jumped on! He loves toys, zoomies, wrestling matches, and basically any activity that involves moving at maximum kitten speed.

For all his wild antics, Pork Chop has a sweet side, too. He and his brother are quite the pair, with Pork Chop playing the role of energetic troublemaker and his brother serving as his favorite snuggle buddy. After a busy day of kitten mayhem, they can often be found curled up together for a well-earned nap.

He is curious about other cats and dogs and may take a little time to decide they are friends, but his confidence grows with some patience. He also enjoys meeting his people and is always happy to see what kind of fun they might have planned.

Pork Chop has his household manners down, too. He consistently uses his litter box and is off to a great start with all the important kitten skills.

If your idea of the perfect kitten includes plenty of personality, nonstop entertainment, adorable pounce poses, and just enough snuggles to balance out the chaos, Pork Chop is ready to bring the party home! 💕🐱

Want to adopt a kitten? We highly recommend you consider bringing home two instead of one! Adopting kittens in pairs has been proven to be beneficial for cats’ emotional and behavioral well-being and greatly improves the likelihood of long-term adopter happiness as a result. Adopting more than one kitten also reduces the risk of “Single Kitten Syndrome” (also known as Tarzan Syndrome), a symptom of under-socialization during a kitten’s most formative weeks. Kittens who are under-socialized may develop aggressive tendencies toward both other animals and humans as they grow, creating lifelong behavioral issues for owners.

NOTE ABOUT BREED LABELING: Visual breed identification of dogs is unreliable and usually inaccurate. So, for most of our adoptable pups, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog or puppy as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label.

Please read the following general requirements carefully before submitting an adoption application. While this criteria is our typical standard, we understand all situations are unique! Don’t be discouraged if you don’t feel you meet one of these bullet points – feel free to submit an application anyway, so we can discuss your situation with you.

  • Applicants must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Submitted applications must be filled out fully and factually.
  • All applicants must reside in the state of Minnesota or its bordering states, unless a special exception has been made. Please email us at info@ruffstartrescue.org if you would like to discuss the potential for an out of state adoption.
  • Consider how you’ll manage an isolation period and be sure all existing pets are up-to-date on vaccinations and other routine health care before bringing a new pet home. An isolation period would be good for allowing that animal to settle in and learn the routine.
  • Please be aware of any rental/association or homeowners’ insurance restrictions you may have before applying. Such limits may include breed restrictions, number of pets allowed, weight requirements, etc.
  • All adopted animals must live indoors with their families and always be monitored closely when outdoors for their safety (with the exception of working cats).
  • We do not allow any medically-unnecessary surgical procedures, such as declawing; defanging; debarking; or cropping/docking (of tails or ears) to be conducted on any animal adopted from our rescue.
