🐾 Meet the Queen of “I’m Shy”… Until I’m Not!

When she first arrived, she was a nervous little wallflower who apparently needed a few days to decide whether humans could be trusted. Spoiler alert: she decided they could. And once she made that decision, there was absolutely no going back. Now she has appointed herself your personal shadow and sees no reason why you should ever be more than three feet away from her.

She is the definition of a mellow girlie. She’ll entertain herself with a few minutes of playtime, then immediately clock out and report for her next shift: CUDDLING. Why waste energy when there are laps to occupy?

Her love language is pretty straightforward: rub against your legs, climb into your lap, and generally make herself as attached to you as physically possible. She also enjoys walking directly between your feet because apparently personal space is a ridiculous human concept. Please watch your step—she considers herself a furry ankle accessory.

She currently has her own room because she is FeLV positive, but don’t let that label fool you. It has zero impact on her ability to be an absolute cuddle bug. When she meets someone new, she may be a little nervous at first, but give her a few minutes and she’ll be ready to snuggle like you two have known each other forever.

When she wants to relax, she prefers the cozy life. Give her an enclosure, hammock, or little hideaway and she is one happy girl. Thunder doesn’t seem to bother her much either, so she’s apparently much braver than her initial “WHO ARE YOU PEOPLE?!” introduction suggested.

As for toys? She’s still conducting extensive research. So far, the catnip kicker received a temporary five-star review, but she has yet to identify The One™. Honestly, she’d probably choose a lap over a toy nine times out of ten anyway.

She is fully litter-box trained and has excellent home manners. Her current resume does not include leash adventures, but frankly, she has more important things to do—like sitting in your lap.

💕 The Official Roast

This girl may arrive looking like a shy little introvert, but give her a few days and suddenly you have a full-time cuddle employee who refuses to leave your side. She will follow you, rub on you, sit on you, walk between your feet, and generally make it very clear that you are now her person.

And please, do not let her FeLV-positive status discourage you. It does not change who she is one bit. She is affectionate, loving, gentle, and completely deserving of a wonderful forever home.

She deserves the world—and if you give her a chance, she just might become your whole world, too. ❤️🐾

NOTE ABOUT BREED LABELING: Visual breed identification of dogs is unreliable and usually inaccurate. So, for most of our adoptable pups, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog or puppy as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label.

Please read the following general requirements carefully before submitting an adoption application. While this criteria is our typical standard, we understand all situations are unique! Don’t be discouraged if you don’t feel you meet one of these bullet points – feel free to submit an application anyway, so we can discuss your situation with you.

  • Applicants must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Submitted applications must be filled out fully and factually.
  • All applicants must reside in the state of Minnesota or its bordering states, unless a special exception has been made. Please email us at info@ruffstartrescue.org if you would like to discuss the potential for an out of state adoption.
  • Consider how you’ll manage an isolation period and be sure all existing pets are up-to-date on vaccinations and other routine health care before bringing a new pet home. An isolation period would be good for allowing that animal to settle in and learn the routine.
  • Please be aware of any rental/association or homeowners’ insurance restrictions you may have before applying. Such limits may include breed restrictions, number of pets allowed, weight requirements, etc.
  • All adopted animals must live indoors with their families and always be monitored closely when outdoors for their safety (with the exception of working cats).
  • We do not allow any medically-unnecessary surgical procedures, such as declawing; defanging; debarking; or cropping/docking (of tails or ears) to be conducted on any animal adopted from our rescue.
