Meet Delaney 💕 — Your Forever Puppy and Professional Cuddle Bug!

Looking for a best friend with adorable puppy-dog looks, expressive ears, and a serious talent for cuddling? Meet Delaney! This sweet girl may be timid when meeting new people or exploring unfamiliar places, but give her a little time and space, and you’ll discover a playful, affectionate companion who’s ready to fill your days with love, laughter, and plenty of snuggles.

Delaney is looking for a fresh start with a family who will help her feel safe, celebrate her progress, and show her just how wonderful life can be. And in return? You may never have to cuddle alone again!

💕 Her Favorite Place Is Right Next to You

Delaney has perfected the art of getting close to her favorite people. Her signature move? Sneaking her head into your lap for pets or simply resting it there to be near you. If she’s not resting her head in your lap, she’s probably leaning against your leg, soaking up your company.

And those ears! Delaney has some of the most expressive ears around, making every look and little head tilt even more adorable. Combined with her forever-puppy appearance, she’s pretty much impossible not to love.

Once she feels comfortable with you, her affectionate personality really shines. She loves being around her people and feels happiest when she can relax nearby, knowing she’s safe and loved.

🎾 Morning Playtime, Evening Wind-Downs

Delaney has a playful side and is especially energetic in the mornings. She loves a good game of chase, tug-of-war, or fetch, and she’s always happy to spend time with her favorite toys. Kongs, stuffed toys, and balls are all hits with this girl!

She’s also learning that there’s a time for fun and a time for rest. When she’s tired, Delaney can have a hard time settling herself down. She may pace around or look for things to shred if she doesn’t get some help winding down. A quiet room, a cozy crate, and a little guidance from her humans can help her relax when it’s time for a nap or a peaceful evening.

Her ideal home will offer a nice balance of morning playtime, mental enrichment, outdoor relaxation, and calm downtime. With a consistent routine, she’ll have the support she needs to learn how to settle comfortably.

🐾 A Shy Girl With a Sweet Social Side

Delaney can be timid around new people and animals, especially when meeting new men or unfamiliar dogs. She needs slow, gentle introductions without pressure to interact before she’s ready. Giving her the freedom to approach at her own pace helps her build trust and feel secure.

Once Delaney knows she’s safe, though, she’s a lovely companion! She has done well with her resident dog, enjoying playtime while also giving him space when he’s ready to relax. She can coexist with other pets once she’s comfortable, so a home with a well-matched, respectful animal companion may be a possibility with thoughtful introductions.

Delaney feels most at ease when she’s with her trusted people, relaxing outdoors, or spending time in a quieter room away from too much activity. Busy environments, sudden changes, and rushed introductions can be overwhelming for her, so she’ll thrive with someone who understands that confidence takes time.

She doesn’t need you to rush her into being brave. She just needs you to show her that the world can be a safe and happy place, one small step at a time.

🏡 Learning the Ropes of Home Life

Delaney is fully house-trained and hasn’t had an accident in her foster home! She’s currently learning “sit” and will need help mastering other basic cues as well as learning to walk comfortably on a leash.

She’s also getting used to her crate. She can settle in it, although she’ll need a little encouragement (and some tasty treats!) to go inside willingly. Continued positive reinforcement and a predictable routine will help her build confidence with these new skills.

One thing to keep in mind: Delaney can get excited when greeting people and may jump up to say hello. Because of this, a home without young children may be the best fit while she works on her greeting manners. She’ll benefit from patient, consistent training and people who can help her learn more polite ways to show her excitement.

💗 Is Delaney Your Perfect Match?

Delaney is ready for a fresh start — a place to feel comfortable, people to love, and a life filled with care, play, and affection. She needs a patient adopter who will give her time to warm up, respect her boundaries, and help her build confidence in new situations.

In return, you’ll get a playful girl who loves her toys, enjoys spending time outdoors, and will happily rest her head in your lap whenever the opportunity arises. She may need a little help navigating the world at first, but once you’re part of her trusted circle, you’ll see just how much love she has to give.

Her ideal home will provide gentle introductions, a steady routine, plenty of playtime, and a quiet place to unwind when the day gets overwhelming. Whether she’s chasing a ball in the yard or snuggling up against you after a busy morning, Delaney is ready to make herself at home.

All Delaney needs is a chance to feel safe, a family willing to let her blossom at her own pace, and someone who doesn’t mind sharing their lap. Could you be the fresh start she’s been waiting for? 🐶💕

NOTE ABOUT BREED LABELING: Visual breed identification of dogs is unreliable and usually inaccurate. So, for most of our adoptable pups, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog or puppy as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label.

Please read the following general requirements carefully before submitting an adoption application. While this criteria is our typical standard, we understand all situations are unique! Don’t be discouraged if you don’t feel you meet one of these bullet points – feel free to submit an application anyway, so we can discuss your situation with you.

  • Applicants must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Submitted applications must be filled out fully and factually.
  • All applicants must reside in the state of Minnesota or its bordering states, unless a special exception has been made. Please email us at info@ruffstartrescue.org if you would like to discuss the potential for an out of state adoption.
  • Consider how you’ll manage an isolation period and be sure all existing pets are up-to-date on vaccinations and other routine health care before bringing a new pet home. An isolation period would be good for allowing that animal to settle in and learn the routine.
  • Please be aware of any rental/association or homeowners’ insurance restrictions you may have before applying. Such limits may include breed restrictions, number of pets allowed, weight requirements, etc.
  • All adopted animals must live indoors with their families and always be monitored closely when outdoors for their safety (with the exception of working cats).
  • We do not allow any medically-unnecessary surgical procedures, such as declawing; defanging; debarking; or cropping/docking (of tails or ears) to be conducted on any animal adopted from our rescue.
