Meet Cinder! This petite little girl may be the runt of her litter, but she certainly doesn’t act like it! Cinder started out very shy, but she has come beautifully out of her shell and has revealed a playful, curious personality with a wonderful cuddly side.

Cinder loves wrestling and playing with her siblings and can absolutely hold her own in the kitten chaos. She also enjoys entertaining herself with the three-way tunnel, motion toys, and pretty much anything else she can get her paws on. When she isn’t busy playing, she loves exploring her space, napping in the window or kitten tower, and spending time with her mama.

Her favorite place, though, may be your lap. After eating, Cinder often climbs right onto her person for a little bath and then settles in for a cozy nap. She can go from cuddly sleeping sweetheart to energetic little ball of kitten in no time!

Cinder can still be a little shy and may not always come out right away when something is new. She has only seen other pets through a screen door so far, so introductions to new animals should be slow and thoughtful. She is fully litter box trained and ready to find a home where she can continue building confidence while getting plenty of playtime and cuddles.

Cinder may be tiny, but she has a big personality—and she’s going to make one very special cuddle buddy!

Want to adopt a kitten? We highly recommend you consider bringing home two instead of one! Adopting kittens in pairs has been proven to be beneficial for cats’ emotional and behavioral well-being and greatly improves the likelihood of long-term adopter happiness as a result. Adopting more than one kitten also reduces the risk of “Single Kitten Syndrome” (also known as Tarzan Syndrome), a symptom of under-socialization during a kitten’s most formative weeks. Kittens who are under-socialized may develop aggressive tendencies toward both other animals and humans as they grow, creating lifelong behavioral issues for owners.

NOTE ABOUT BREED LABELING: Visual breed identification of dogs is unreliable and usually inaccurate. So, for most of our adoptable pups, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog or puppy as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label.

Please read the following general requirements carefully before submitting an adoption application. While this criteria is our typical standard, we understand all situations are unique! Don’t be discouraged if you don’t feel you meet one of these bullet points – feel free to submit an application anyway, so we can discuss your situation with you.

  • Applicants must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Submitted applications must be filled out fully and factually.
  • All applicants must reside in the state of Minnesota or its bordering states, unless a special exception has been made. Please email us at info@ruffstartrescue.org if you would like to discuss the potential for an out of state adoption.
  • Consider how you’ll manage an isolation period and be sure all existing pets are up-to-date on vaccinations and other routine health care before bringing a new pet home. An isolation period would be good for allowing that animal to settle in and learn the routine.
  • Please be aware of any rental/association or homeowners’ insurance restrictions you may have before applying. Such limits may include breed restrictions, number of pets allowed, weight requirements, etc.
  • All adopted animals must live indoors with their families and always be monitored closely when outdoors for their safety (with the exception of working cats).
  • We do not allow any medically-unnecessary surgical procedures, such as declawing; defanging; debarking; or cropping/docking (of tails or ears) to be conducted on any animal adopted from our rescue.
