The Story of Matilda Mae

Matilda Mae is a 1-year-old American Bully mix who arrived at a local impound as a stray in dire need of help. It’s clear that she was attacked by another dog (the details are unknown), leaving her with severe injuries across her face and body. She suffered deep bite wounds, a painful laceration on her forearm, and the most concerning injury is on the right side of her face, around her ear. There’s a puncture wound and significant swelling, and we’re closely monitoring her ear canal to prevent any lasting damage.

Despite everything she’s been through, Matilda is a shining example of love and resilience. She’s been recovering in a foster home where she’s started pain medications and antibiotics, but she still requires extensive veterinary care to fully heal. Matilda still needs a complete check-up, spaying, and microchipping, and we are committed to ensuring her ear injury doesn’t cause any long-term issues.

Matilda is a gentle and affectionate soul. She loves nothing more than cuddling and has even snuck into bed with her foster to snuggle and snore happily away. She gets along beautifully with other dogs and has a special love for toys—especially crinkle toys and chew treats. Highly treat-motivated, she’s a dream to work with as she recovers and prepares for her new home.
