12 Strays of Christmas – Day 1

The holidays are a joyous time for many, but for stray animals, this time can be sad and lonely, and for impound and shelter employees, it can be stressful and heartbreaking to watch animals come in from the cold.
One of our goals this holiday season is to bring awareness to the many strays living in local impounds who need the community’s help. Join us in the coming weeks as we celebrate #12StraysofChristmas – an effort to find foster and adoptive homes for 12 stray animals before Christmas.
Earlier today, Pluto took her freedom ride from St. Paul Animal Control with a Ruff Start foster. Poor Pluto was recently found tied to a bench, abandoned in the cold on a 5-degree day. She was outside alone for over an hour before someone noticed a white dog shaking like a leaf in the snow. She was taken into shelter and stole the hearts of everyone at St. Paul Animal Control. When a Ruff Start intake representative met her, she knew she wanted to get this girl into a loving and warm foster home.
Pluto is soft and sweet and loves to be pet and handled. She rocked her dog tests at SPAC with both male and female dogs and didn’t seem to mind the cats. She is believed to be 1-2 years old. Pluto was calm and relaxed during her entire ride home from SPAC.
The next step for Pluto is to settle into her foster home and be seen by our vetting team before she becomes available for adoption. We know this girl will get scooped up quickly with her loving demeanor and adorable face. Just look at her enjoying that pup cup!
Please consider making a gift to help with expenses associated with Pluto’s care and that of the 400+ impound animals Ruff Start intakes annually. Together, we can ensure a future for the stray animals of Minnesota.
