The Story of Asha

Meet Asha.
In June, this sweet gal arrived in Minnesota from Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota, to her new foster family with Ruff Start. She arrived sad, scared, defeated, and hungry. With all of that, she greeted her foster family with a wagging tail and hope in her eyes. They decided to name her “Asha”, which means alive and well – and that is the hope for her future.
Based on her condition, we think Asha has been living with mange her entire life. The mange has taken over nearly 90% of her body, leaving her skin irritated, raw and uncomfortable. Luckily, she loves her new jammies, and that should help protect her vulnerable skin while she heals! She was brought in today for an appointment with Ruff Start’s veterinary team, and with a bath, some medication, a healthy diet, lots of baths to help with the irritation, and plenty of love and care, this girl will be on her way to recovery in no time. We want to thank all of the people who were able to help Asha on this road to recovery – this is why we do what we do! Stay tuned to watch Asha’s progress!
Update:
It’s been a long road for our Asha girl, but we can happily announce that she’s home. ❤️
After months of providing Asha with love and care, her foster family realized that Asha had already found her home and they finalized her adoption. Congratulations to Asha and her family!
