The Story of Stilla

One thing we know for sure: Stilla knows resilience.

Stilla moved between multiple shelters for over half a year before she ultimately made her way to Ruff Start through our Lone Star to the North Star Rescue® Relief Program. This loving, energetic, 6-year-old pup befriended every animal and human she met along the way!

Her medical history before rescue is unknown, but Ruff Start’s veterinarian team quickly found a mammary mass that needed to be removed. Unfortunately, during the mass removal surgery, our veterinarian found more masses affecting every gland on her left side, requiring a complete mastectomy of her entire left mammary chain. More masses were found on the right chain that couldn’t be removed during that surgery and would be examined once she healed.
We aim to remove all of the malignant tumors and hope they have not and do not spread – to give her the best quality of life possible. Only time will tell if the tumors have spread, but by removing the current tumors, we can extend her time on earth so she can continue giving out those giant sloppy kisses for as long as possible.
Stilla has a final procedure next week to remove another mass on the other mammary chain. Once she is fully healed, this happy gal will be looking for her family!
